The Art Gallery Assistant is primarily responsible for helping to maintain the gallery records and exhibits, and assist in the management of the gallery. The regular duties are to greet visitors, help set up and take down the art shows, help organize and promote the exhibits, and establish and maintain relationships with artists and the public. The Assistant will supervise interns and volunteers and coordinate all functions that contribute to a successful exhibit, art class or show opening. The Assistant will attend monthly board meetings via Zoom. Experience in gallery management, administration or an interest in the fine arts would be welcome.
Knowledge and skills requirements
Seeking a detailed oriented, proactive individual with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Individual should be able to work within the budgeted guidelines, handle inquiries and be proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
We are a small art gallery that is open during late spring, summer and early fall. Work schedule includes15 hours per week at the gallery (Thursday - Saturday, 11 am -4 pm) with additional hours as needed. We host a popular opening reception for each exhibit and this year will be open during Wiscasset’s Art Walks.
$18.00 per hour
