Wiscasset Art Walk

Join us for historic Wiscasset's Art Walks, held on the last Thursday of each month of the summer season. The Maine Art Gallery has something different planned for each Art Walk.

We are also on the Wiscasset Museum in the Streets tour, as our home since our founding has been the Old Wiscasset Academy, also known as the Red Brick Schoolhouse, built in 1807.  The building was purchased by Mildred Burrage and donated by her to the Town as a permanent home for the Maine Art Gallery, of which she was a founder and frequent exhibitor.

Wiscasset celebrates art, history, and nature in a beautiful setting along the Sheepscot River. Each Art Walk highlights the variety of galleries and unique shops, and features music, street performances, and visiting artists. The prominent Nickels-Sortwell House on Main Street, owned by Historic New England, is open for tours. The Wiscasset Museum in the Streets provides self-guided walking tour, and follows a series of panels with historic images and stories of local history and impressive architecture.

Brochures are available at several panels throughout the village. You’ll find a nice mix of restaurants and fun shopping!
