Bring cash) Capacity: 12 Skill level: Any. Adults only. Location: The Maine Art Gallery. Materials: Instructor will provide color aid paper to share and Bristol board collage bases - supply fee $25 to be paid to the instructor in cash or check. Students bring a cutting matt, exacto knife, quality sharp scissors, tweezers and rubber cement, paper towels, a small tray for collage pieces, sketchbook, and prismacolor colored pencils with at least 12 colors. Description: The Color Theory Workshop will start you on your journey to mastering color relationships. This class takes a quick look at the historical use of color in painting, and various color theories. The remainder of the workshop will be hands on work exploring and perfecting how you use color. We will be working with color aid papers to create a variety of collages to learn about color relationships. Students will then move on to using colored pencils to create color studies. About Deena Ball: Deena is an active teaching artist for both adults and children. She is regularly invited to conduct workshops and presentations for artists organizations. Recent presentations have been for Philadelphia Watercolor Society, Onodaga Art Society, Salem County Art Society and the Waterville Area Art Association. She has been teaching workshops and classes on zoom for River Arts in Maryland, Mendocino Art Center in California, Community Art Center and Wayne Art Center in PA. She teaches in person out of her studio in Maine and through Artscope. Her studio offers online mentorship programs and hybrid studio classes. Deena is a past president of the Philadelphia Water Color Society and the co-founder and Artistic Director of the non-profit, LandArt Events which organized Farm to Table Plein Air. She has worked to strengthen the ties between artists, provide opportunities for artists and opportunities for the public to interact with the artistic community. Deena is currently involved in a project to paint scenes from the Falmouth Maine Landtrust Properties to foster greater community awareness about the issues of land development and conservation.
