DATE & TIME: August 8 & 9; 9:30 am - 3:30 pm Instructor: Deena Ball COST: Members $210 (***MEMBERS use coupon code PLEINAIRCLASSMEMBER at checkout***) Non-Members: $225 Capacity: 12 Skill Level: Students must be familiar and somewhat proficient with their chosen medium. Instructor is most familiar with oils and watercolors. Adults only. Supplies needed for student to bring: Please bring all your usual painting supplies, a sketch book, pencil and two black sharpies- medium and fine line. Students should have an easel set up to paint outside. ( Plein Air easel advice is available for those seeking to purchase one) Location: Start at Maine Art Gallery then on to painting outside, weather permitting. Class Description: Students will learn how to portray the elements of the landscape with integrity and yet a minimum of details. Painters will analyze compositional techniques and learn how to apply these time tested ideas to their own work. Ultimately, painters will work towards adding a layer of emotion. “Art an expression of nature and of human life, and incidentally their own souls” Frank Duveneck. About Deena Ball: Deena's love of nature, science and art comes together when she paints outside. She is a student of nature who is constantly amazed at the natural world. She paints to help others see, respect, and conserve the beauty in our natural world. Deena holds a BA in Art History and Studio Art from Colby College in Waterville, Maine and continued her studies at Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art and Tyler School of Art. Her landscape watercolor paintings have been exhibited throughout the country. She studied for several years with the late Domenic DiStephano. The Richard Boyd Art Gallery in Portland, Maine is currently representing her.
