DATE & TIME: August 21, 22, 23; 9am to 1pm Instructor: Melanie Therrien COST: Member $195 (***MEMBERS use coupon code ACRYLICMEMBER at checkout***) Non Member $210 Capacity: 15 Skill level: Adults and Students Age 10 and above. This course is good for beginners up through professionals who want to engage with other artists and art lovers. Location: Maine Art Gallery in Wiscasset. Materials: Students should bring a brown bag lunch, snack, and drink. All other materials will be provided. Participants will learn acrylic painting tips, tricks and techniques while creating mastetpieces of their own. We will touch on colory theory, composition, inspiration and any questions participants may have. About Melanie Therrien:​ Melanie Therrien is a painter and maker. Her art studio is not far from where her grandparents worked, in the once bustling mills of Lewiston, Maine. After working for 15 years in the service industry, juggling mural, illustration, and commission work and co founding an art house, she set her focus to her own art and opened Wicked Illustrations Studio and Gallery in 2007. She began offering art classes and eventually added art parties and a retail section for art supplies. In 2013, she moved her studio to Canal St. near Lewiston's growing Art District and found a passion for civic engagement and Public Art. She worked with the Union of Maine Visual Artists from 2015 to 2019 and is currently on the L/A Art Walk Committee. In 2016 she was honored to receive Uplift’s 40 Under 40 Creative Genius Award. Her most recent award is for her piece, "Virgina," from her Roots Series, through the Waterville Area Art Society. Her public art can be seen on and around iconic and important places in her home town in the form of murals, creative crosswalks, painted fire hydrants and a series of selfie wings called #wickedwingslewiston.
