DATE & TIME: OCTOBER 6; 10am to 3pm (bring lunch and/or snacks) SIGN UP DEADLINE: October 2 Instructor: Jude Valentine COST: Member $85 (***MEMBERS use coupon code CAPTURINGMEMBER at checkout***) Non Member $95 Capacity: 10 Skill level: Beginner to intermediate. Adults only. Location: Maine Art Gallery Description: A mixed water-media workshop where we’ll practice with using various methods to bring more light into our work. Do you find that your color falls flat, or that you are sometimes mixing more muddy color? Join me to explore painting the fall light and foliage to build some confidence in color mixing and creating a more vibrant palette. Dress appropriately as we’ll venture outside as weather permits. Materials: Bring the materials you have. You do not need to purchase new materials. Suggested materials: - 9x12 (or larger 11 x 14 inch), 140lb or higher watercolor paper in a block, pad, or separate sheets. If you have separate sheets, bring a drawing board or piece of masonite large enough to support your paper and a roll of tape to anchor it. - At minimum bring a basic primary color set of gouache, watercolor, or acrylic paints; or your preferred set of paint colors - no oil paints. - A container for water - brush rinsing - Pencils and erasers - Assorted round (size 8,10) and flat (3/4 to 2 inch) brushes - Palette knife, if you work with acrylics - Palette Optional: set of soft pastels (not oil pastels), fixative, watercolor crayons, watercolor colored pencils; acrylic paint markers. An easel is optional. About Jude Valentine:​ Jude completed her BFA at the Maine College of Art and MFA in Visual Art from Vermont College of Fine Arts. She received numerous awards for her work including: Jerome Foundation Fellowship and an Individual Grant Award from the Council of Creative Arts, Cornell University. Artist residency awards have been many including: the Joseph Fiore Art Center at Rolling Acres Farm / Maine Farmland Trust. 
 She teaches at USM. The intention of her printmaking and painting has been to bridge a connection to the landscape that translates a place from "out there" to "in here"—creating a visual connection to place that is somatic and visceral. The focus of the paintings and prints are to place the viewer ‘within’—offering a connection to a quiet place. For more: judevalentine.com
