DATE & TIME: July 23, 9:30am to 12:30pm / Rain Date: June 24, 9:30am - 12:30pm SIGN UP DEADLINE: JULY 18 Instructor: Jonathan Lavan COST: Member $70 Non Member $75 Capacity: 12 Skill level: Any. Adults only. Location: The Maine Art Gallery Materials: Bring anything you are comfortable taking photos with. This can be a point and shoot camera, an SLR camera, smart phone or mirror-lens camera, and sturdy shoes. Description: Join professional photographer Jonathan Lavan for a three-hour workshop that consists of: - One-hour presentation, - Half hour Q&A - 1.5 hours with Jonathan outdoors, at the waterfront, in green spaces in Wiscasset, and at the ancient cemetery to capture compelling photos. No experience is required for enrollment. Class size will allow for personal critique from instructor. Class size limited so sign up early. About the Instructor: Jonathan Lavan, owner of Underpressure Diving & Nature Photography, is a citizen scientist and has been taking photographs both above and below the waterline. As an underwater and topside photographer, he has been a teacher, speaker, author, and research associate for many different well-known and little-known environmental organizations. Besides the state of Maine, Jonathan’s artwork is also shown in galleries in Los Angeles, San Diego, Chicago, and Barcelona. He is a staunch environmentalist, and often educates young people in Maine regarding environmental topics. He is committed to and passionate about making a difference in the world.
