DATE & TIME: July 9, 9:30am to 12:30pm SIGN UP DEADLINE: JUNE 4 Instructor: Elizabeth Reed COST: Member $70 Non Member $75 Capacity: 12 Skill level: Any. Adults only. Location: The Maine Art Gallery Materials: Your table setting is personal. Please bring any meaningful object(s) that you gathered from your life’s journey. This will be the subject of your “still” life. Please only use water-based media in the gallery. ● A larger piece of good-quality paper (Ex: Blick 18 x 24” multi media paper) ● Heavy Arches hot press watercolor paper ● Canson mixed media paper (comes in a pad too) ● Pencils, eraser, and ruler ● If you have them, bring: watercolors, gouache, colored pencils, or markers ● Brushes, paper towels, water containers, paint palettes ● Color palette: bring what you have and love. ● Suggested paint palette (only a suggestion!) White, Cadmium Yellow Light (warm), Cadmium Yellow Medium (cool), Cadmium Red Light, Alizarin Crimson permanent, Cobalt Blue, Ultramarine Blue, Dioxazine Violet, Viridian Green, Sap Green. Description: How you set the table is a personal creative expression that tells a story. Invite conversation by mixing textures, colors, and objects that balance the colors and patterns of the food you offer. A well-set table is a work of art. In this workshop, we will create a “still” life that is full of imagination and energy. Not “still” at all! You will learn ● How to use perspective to set your table ● How to use the table setting to create a beautiful work of art ● How to stretch your imagination beyond representation You will practice ● Using perspective to set the table ● Designing the space in an interesting composition ● Push your imagination with color and pattern You will take home ● Art-inspired by table settings, food, libations, and fun ● A detailed visual handout describing how to see perspective so you can continue to explore Your three-hour sketch of a great gathering. About the Instructor: Elizabeth Reed studied life drawing, painting, and print making at the University of Kansas and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Before moving to Maine, Libby taught life drawing and painting at The Armory Art Center in West Palm Beach, The Boca Raton Museum School, The Coral Springs Museum of Art, and ArtServe in Florida. Her work has been honored in local, national, and international exhibits.
